There is one truth we can be sure of: in trying times, we protect each other. White supremacy does the same. This lawsuit against protestors demonstrates the interconnectedness of white supremacy and this lawsuit should be seen as a threat to all civilians who may come in contact with police.

The lawsuit, brought on by DMPD officers Peter Wilson and Jeffrey George, has legal representation by Hedberg & Boulton. This lawsuit is a gross overreach of power and demonstrates that DMPD officers will go out of their way to independently target protestors' rights to protest police violence and injustices. For lowa Democratic Senator Nate Boulton to allow his law firm to take this case shows us that these systems of white supremacy are deeply interwoven to protect and legitimize one another. Every supporter of free speech should be fighting back.

We demand the following:

• Drop the lawsuit

• Fire the violent/liar cops: Peter Wilson and Jeffery George

• Defund and Abolish DMPD

• The City of Des Moines must compensate every protestor in attendance on July 1, 2020.

We stand in solidarity with these community members being targeted and continue to demand and fight to defund and abolish DMPD.
